Ogie Alcasid phenomenally introduced Boy Pick-Up back in 2010. Because of the success of his TV debut, Boy Pick-Up never left the GMA gag show “Bubble Gang”. Next month, it is Boy’s time to grace the silverscreen with “Boy Pick-Up” The Movie.

Boy Pick-Up has successfully been Ogie’s latest alter-ego of late. And, if we talk about Ogie, can music be left behind?

Universal Records is releasing the “Boy Pick-Up” The Album, which includes songs inspired by the movie, story and of the characters involved with the project.

WHAT started as a segment on the longest-running gag show on Philippine TV became a nationwide phenomenon with its massive fan base reaching from kids, teens, and adults alike.

Following its success and growing popularity, GMA Films and Regal Entertainment Inc. bring the wacky and addicting antics of multi-talented comedian Ogie Alcasid to the big screen with the spin-off of his character in Bubble Gang via Boy Pick-Up: The Movie!

Set to hit theaters on June 6, the film not only promises to give audiences bigger laughs but also grants the wish of avid fans and viewers of Boy Pick-Up to finally watch their idol deliver his signature pick-up lines to a bigger arena.

Ogie once again showcases his comic genius and versatility as he reprises the character of Boy Pick-Up in the silver screen. He expresses his excitement on playing the title role for the first time after being in the industry for over 25 years. Ogie is likewise very thrilled to work with sexy Kapuso actress Solenn Heussaff who will be
his leading lady in the movie.

Ogie is all praises for Solenn’s talent and maturity as an actress and declares that she is a “revelation” in Boy Pick-Up: The Movie. He equally admires the acting chops of award-winning actor Dennis Trillo as Gabbs/Bagwis, Boy Pick-Up’s greatest rival in the pickup battle showdown.

Set to add more spice and to make the movie even more special are Sam Pinto, Gwen Zamora, Jackie Rice, Ellen Adarna, and Sarah Lahbati. Also joining them are Antonio Aquitania, Boy 2 Quizon, Diego, Moymoy Palaboy, Eri Neeman, Pepe Smith, and Lilia Cuntapay.

Moviegoers are in for a treat as Asian TV Best Comedy Actor recipient and Ogie’s longtime friend Michael V. makes a special participation as McBits.

In the film, there is an underground battle among Pikapistas and Boy Pick-Up remains to be the all-time, undefeated champion in wooing the gorgeous Neneng B (Sam). Despite his fame and legend, Boy Pick-Up lives a normal and solitary life. When his landlady asks Boy to love her in exchange for several months of rent due, Boy is forced to look for a new job.

Boy applies as a pastry chef in Heaven’s Bakeshop, a bakery owned by Angel (Solenn Heusaff), and falls head over heels in love with her.

Unknown to Boy, a dark force known as Bagwis (Dennis) is operating under his nose to destroy him and his love life in order to defeat him in the pikapista battles. How will Boy emerge from the darkness? Who will help him succeed? And how will he regain his foothold of the Pikapista championship crown? Now, only one question remains: Bakit?

KASISIMULA PA lang nitong Luna Blanca, sangkatutak na raw ang problema sa mga artista nila?

Ang narinig ko ka-sing kuwento, ayaw na raw ng nanay ni Jillian Ward na ituloy ito dahil hindi na raw nakikilala ng mga fans ang anak niya dahil sa itim na make-up nito. Kaya parang pinag-iisipan na yatang paputiin na lang ito.

Pero nu’ng kinausap naman ng reporter namin ang ilang taga-Luna Blanca, sinabi naman nilang naayos na raw ang problema at tuloy pa rin daw si Jillian sa kanila.

Totoong nahihirapan lang daw ang bata sa itim na make-up at naiinitan na ito. Kaya ang ginagawa nila, hindi na nila minimeyk-apan ang buong katawan. Kasi mainit nga naman ‘yan at hindi pa ganu’n kataas ang tolerance ng ganu’n kabata, ‘di ba?

Sa isang squatter’s area pa sa Malabon daw ang location nito na napakainit kaya ibinibigay nila kay Jillian ang lahat para maging kumportable lang ito.

Kahit napakalamig ang aircon sa dressing room nila, mainit naman sa labas, kaya mahirap pa rin sa bata. Kaya siguro medyo paikliin na lang nila ang exposure ng bata dahil nahihirapan na nga naman ito.

Pati ang kasama nitong si Mona Louise Rey ay naiintriga na rin dahil nagpapatalbugan daw ang mga nanay nila. Sabi naman ng mga taga-Luna Blanca, pinagsama nila sa isang dressing room ang dalawang bata para magka-bonding talaga sila, kaya nag-i-enjoy lang sila sa paglalaro kapag walang take.

Siguro ang dapat bantayan, ang mga nanay nila na ayaw paawat sa patalbugan ng anak nila, ‘no!

Sila siguro ang dapat disiplinahin ng GMA-7!

  SOLENN HEUSSAFF will start to be a co-host of “Eat Bulaga” this Monday and she’s nervous and excited about it. “I pray everyday that I won’t make mistakes in my Tagalog,” she says. “Panay nga ang practice ko para di ako magkamali.”

This early, some quarters are predicting that she might catch the fancy Vic Sotto and this can be a source of friction between her and Vic’s current squeeze, Pauleen Luna. “Walang ganyan,” she laughs. “Bakit nauuna pa sila sa amin? I’ll just go there to work. Walang intriga. I know Pauleen, mabait siya. No need to be jealous kasi may boyfriend ako (an Argentinian athlete.) I’m happy nga that my entry in ‘Eat Bulaga’ has perfect timing for our movie ni Ogie Alcasid, ‘Boy Pick Up’, which opens on June 6, so mapo-promote ko ito nang husto sa show.” 

How was it doing the movie? “Lots of fun kasi they made me do some crazy things that they thought hindi ko kayang gawin. I like doing a different kind of comedy like this where you get to let your hair down. It’s cool.”

Ogie as Boy Pick Up said Solenn really surprised all of them. “She’s so sexy here, pero yung pagiging sexy niya, hindi na kinukuwestiyon yun. She’s just so naturally sexy. She even sang some songs with me at maririnig nyo yun sa original sound track album ng movie. She’s good. Ang revelation, yung pagiging baliw rin pala niya. Gugulatin kayo ng mga kabaliwan niya rito. Wala siyang kaarte-arte at lahat ng pinagawa ni Direk Dominic Zapata, dinagdagan pa niya kaya over the top talaga ang pagko-comedy niya rito.”

“Boy Pick Up” opens in theatres on June 6, with premiere night at SM Megamall this Sunday, June 3.

Si Sam Pinto ang bidang babae sa Boy Pick- Up segment ng comedy show na Bubble Gang. Pero sa movie adaptation nito na “Boy Pick Up: The Movie”, si Solenn Heussaff ang leading lady nina Ogie Alcasid at Dennis Trillo. Dahil dito, napabalitang nagkaroon ng gap ang dalawang Kapuso stars.

Mabilis naman na sagot ni Sam dito ay, “Wala, wala.” Hindi rin daw problema para kay Sam ang supporting role niya sa movie. “Actually, from the very beginning naman, sinabi sa akin na yung buong movie, based on Boy Pick-Up’s life outside the pick- up world. And kaming mga Bubble Gang cast, nasa loob lang kami ng pick-up world niya. So, iyon, umiikot talaga siya sa outside world, so okay lang.”


In fact, masaya ang Viva artist na mapasama sa pelikula kahit pa produced ito ng Regal Films. “Oo nga which is good ‘coz it’s a Regal Films so… Mabuti nga po pumayag sila na gawin ko ito kasi nga Regal ito,” paliwanag ni Sam.


Matagal-tagal na ring nasa bakod ng Kapuso network si Sam pero hindi pa ito nabibigyan ng solo show. Bukod sa Bubble Gang, kabilang din si Sam sa Sunday variety show na Party Pilipinas.

Naniniwala si Sam na hindi pa tamang panahon upang mabigyan siya ng solo show. “Actually, for me kasi, I’m not also ready yet dahil me, I want to grow more, I want more workshops… I want to improve in everything. Until maybe my mentor or whoever gives the go signal. And if I feel like I’m ready, that’s when I’m gonna, ‘Push ninyo naman ako ng sarili kong show!’”
